Your OWN Retreat at Home? Yes!

When you need a vacation but don’t have the time, money, or even energy to take one, there’s another way to get the relaxation you need without leaving your house. The following video from PopSugar Fitness will show you how to create a simple meditation retreat wherever you live.

You don’t need a lot of space, and you don’t even need to spend a lot of money. You can make this zen oasis right where you are with what you have.

Of course, if you have kids running around your house, the idea of a meditation retreat at home might sound laughable unless you have a she-shed to escape to during the day. Even with the chaos of a busy family or needy pets, it’s important to create a sacred space where you can relax and unwind.

Your bottom-imprinted seat on the couch in front of the TV might feel like a retreat, but it might not give you the rest and quiet you need to let your brain and body recharge. Here are a few quick tips to consider for your at-home meditation retreat.

Find a space that’s less likely to be disturbed.

Make it a room with a view – adding images or photos that help you feel at ease.

Throw in comfortable textures like fluffy pillows, soft blankets, or even woven scarves.

Make use of a Do Not Disturb sign and the Do Not Disturb setting on your phone.

Keep it simple. If you have 10 minutes, that’s good enough. Do what you can, and don’t feel bad if you can’t do more.

Maybe a relaxation retreat on a private island sounds more like what you need, but in a pinch, a meditation at home could restore you – at least until you can take the vacation you deserve.
