A little after his 4th birthday, Josh began his life long journey with music when he received his first harmonica from his grandfather, Raymond Colton. Ray was an accomplished touring musician, the trumpet being his forte, but also played harmonica, guitar, violin and piano. His love for music of all types was passed down to Josh with that simple gift. Six months later, Josh sat down at a piano and realized that he could bring to life the sounds and music inside his head. Thus began his quest to capture, understand, and free that music . He does just that by playing piano at local restaurants and bars in the RDU area, performing for corporate functions, and  recording and producing in  SoulVibe Studios, his personal home studio. In addition to acquiring his BA in Music and Recording from Penn State University in 1995, Josh has been playing in various rock, blues, pop, and rhythm & soul bands up and down the east coast since the early 90's. His solo piano music includes smooth jazz improvisations, pop songs, soft piano ballads as well as straight forward driving blues and jazz standards.. Josh has a large selection of cover songs as well as his own musical creations waiting at his fingertips. Songs include vocals as well as instrumentals.  He is working on his 1st solo album of piano music at the moment, and should be releasing it shortly.
